Access Section Properties

To access section properties in Designer, click on the Section tab in the properties panel, as shown below.

Sections are logical groupings of pages in your document. Their primary purpose is to allow you to enforce page positioning in the wizard.

Add a Section to a Document

Follow the steps below:

  1. First ensure the Pages tab is selected in the page navigation panel. This is the default option.
  2. Right-click a page in the Page navigation panel on the left. The following menu will appear.
  3. Choose the Add Section After option to see the options in the screen shot below.

Note: Why are there two sections?

Once you add sections to your document, all pages in the document must be part of a section. In the previous example, because we added a section after page one, the system automatically added a section so that page one belongs to a section.

This only happens the first time you add a section to your document. Adding additional sections will only create a single new section.

Section Properties Explained

  Name Description
1 Name

This is the name of the section. Once changed in this view, it will be reflected in the page navigation panel.

Note: Section Names

Since sections are visible to users in the Wizard, it is recommended that you enter a name that your target audience will understand. This will enable your audience to understand why the content has been divided up.

2 Description

This is a description of the section.  These descriptions are not presented in the Wizard, however, if there are multiple people on your team configuring documents, filling out a description will help others understand the intent of your section(s).

3 Must Be First and Must Be Last

Must Be First

This option is ONLY available if the current section is the first section.

If enabled, this property prevents users from using the drag and drop option to move the position of this section.

Example

Let's say your document has multiple sections such as an opening section, an articles section, and achievements section. Typically, you would want to ensure that the Opening section is always presented first as a means of introducing yourself to your target audience.

If you want to allow users to change the order in the Articles and Achievements sections, you can enable the Must Be First property to achieve the desired result.

Note:. In the wizard, users will not be able to move the "opening" section after the "articles" or "achievement" section, however, they will be able to move the 'achievements' section before the "articles" section.

Must Be Last

Just as Must Be First is only available if the current section is the first section, the Must Be Last is only available if the current section is the last section. Its function is to ensure the section is always the last one in the list as seen below

4 User Can Delete

If enabled, users in the Wizard will be able to right-click and delete this section.

5

Can Move Pages

If enabled, users in the Wizard will be able to right-click and move this section.

Note: The ability to move pages is subject to Scope limitations.
